Contraindications for Breathwork

If you have any of the conditions below you should not take part in any intense breathwork sessions 

 

  • Cardiovascular disease including angina, previous heart attack or stroke

  • High blood pressure (not controlled with medication) or Low Blood Pressure with a fainting history 

  • Diagnosis of aneurysm in the brain or abdomen 

  • Uncontrolled Thyroid and Uncontrolled Diabetes 

  • Epilepsy and/or seizures 

  • Prior diagnosis of Bipolar disorder or Schizophrenia or a history of Psychosis 

  • Hospitalization for any recent psychiatric condition or emotional crisis 

  • Pregnancy 

  • Detached retina

  • Glaucoma 

  • Any other Medical, Psychiatric, or physical conditions which would impair or affect the ability to engage in activities involving intense physical or emotional release. This may include coming off of recent medications such as HRT.

 

If you have any of these conditions below  please consult with a medical professional before taking part in any intense breathwork sessions 

 

  • Asthma (bring an inhaler)

  • Recent surgery 

  • Acute illness 

Please don’t practice breathwork whilst driving or in water, or in an environment where you need to be focused for yourself or for the care of another.
